Sources indicate the Philadelphia 76ers are leading in the race to sign Paul George.

 

According to sources close to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Philadelphia 76ers are highly favored to sign Paul George in free agency. George recently informed the LA Clippers of his decision to join another team, prompting discussions between his agent, Aaron Mintz of CAA, and Clippers president Lawrence Frank on Sunday night, which did not yield progress toward a new deal. The Clippers subsequently acknowledged George's departure in a statement.

Later on Sunday night, a delegation from the Sixers is scheduled to meet with George in California, as per Wojnarowski's sources.

In their statement, the Clippers acknowledged George's exceptional talent and contributions during his five-year tenure, including multiple All-Star appearances and significant franchise records. They expressed gratitude for the competitive years alongside George and Kawhi Leonard, despite falling short of their ultimate championship goal.
