At the 2024 BET Awards, Usher received the prestigious lifetime achievement award, celebrated with an electrifying tribute performance that kicked off with Childish Gambino's soulful rendition of "U Don’t Have to Call." Keke Palmer joined him on stage, seamlessly transitioning into "You Make Me Wanna…"
The tribute continued with Summer Walker performing "Good Good," followed by Coco Jones delivering a heartfelt rendition of "There Goes My Baby," captivating the audience, including Usher himself.
Marsha Ambrosius sang "Superstar," Chlöe performed "Good Kisser," and Tinashe covered "Nice & Slow," each adding their unique flair to the tribute. Teyana Taylor and Victoria Monét's performance of "Bad Girl" brought a sultry vibe, while Latto energized the stage with "Yeah!"
Throughout the tribute, Usher was visibly moved, frequently shown smiling and applauding during each performance.
After the tribute, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis brought out L.A. Reid and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, who shared memories of Usher's early talent and audition at age 14.
Usher then took the stage in sunglasses, a white jacket, and jeans, visibly emotional as he delivered his unscripted remarks. He expressed gratitude for the lifetime achievement award and reflected on his journey, acknowledging the challenges he faced, particularly in his personal life.
Speaking candidly about his father's absence and the impact on his life, Usher emphasized the importance of forgiveness and fatherhood. He addressed his ex-wife, Tameka Foster, with a heartfelt message of reconciliation, referencing his song "Good Good" as a symbol of turning a new leaf.

At the 2024 BET Awards, Usher was joined by his family, including his wife, Jennifer Goicoechea Raymond, mother Jonnetta Patton, sons Naviyd Raymond and Usher “Cinco” Raymond V, and brother J. Lack.
Earlier in the evening, Usher also won the award for Best R&B/Hip-Hop Artist, capping off a memorable night at the BET Awards hosted by Taraji P. Henson in Downtown Los Angeles.
